TC-HICT Welcomes ZIM Falcon – Launches New Trans-Pacific Service to the U.S. West Coast

On May 3rd, Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT) welcomed the ZIM Falcon, the first vessel of ZIM’s E-Commerce Express (ZEX) service directly connecting Vietnam to the U.S. West Coast. The vessel, with a capacity of 65,275 DWT (5,315 TEU) and a length of 237.8 meters, follows the route: Cai Mep – Hai Phong (TC-HICT) – Yantian – Los Angeles. ZIM Falcon is among the newest and most advanced mother vessels in the ZIM fleet.

Representatives of ZIM, the captain and crew of the ZIM Falcon, and TC-HICT leadership jointly held a welcome ceremony for the vessel’s safe arrival, marking a significant milestone in the strategic cooperation between the two parties.

The ZEX service is a breakthrough solution offering fast, premium, and reliable shipping from Vietnam and South China to the U.S. West Coast, with a competitive transit time of just 17 days from TC-HICT to Los Angeles. This makes it ideal for high-value and time-sensitive cargo such as electronics.

This milestone strengthens the strategic partnership between TC-HICT and ZIM, Israel’s largest container shipping company and one of the world’s top 9 carriers. ZIM is already operating the ZXB service from TC-HICT to the U.S. East Coast. In Q1 2025, ZIM recorded a remarkable 152% increase in cargo volume at TC-HICT compared to the same period in 2024, ranking among the top 3 carriers at the port.

With the launch of both East and West Coast U.S. services at TC-HICT, this development underscores the port’s operational capabilities and service quality, while contributing to the growth of exports from Northern Vietnam to the U.S. market.
